The James Reckitt Library

A spacious serviced apartment in the center of the city of culture.

Spacious & Refreshingly Modern, Welcome Home

We want you to feel at home as soon as you step through one of our doors. This Gothic revival style building was Hull’s first public library. Established by James Reckitt, a philanthropist famed for his charitable work, the library was completed in 1889 and endowed to the public.

We purchased this elegant building and set about preserving its story, whilst creating fitting apartments. You can still see the original fitted glass cupboards and the checking in desk from the reference library inside.
